I have worked at the Mayfield Clinic for 8 years, providing a Clinical Psychology service to clients across Oxfordshire. I have an established and longstanding working relationship with many of the local independent schools. I hold a Practitioner Doctorate (PsychD) in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oxford. I am also an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS), a title given as recognition of several years’ experience and contribution to the field of clinical psychology. I am a highly experienced clinician, my work in mental health services over the last 17 years has been with children and adults, including inpatient and outpatient NHS departments. I have experience of working with people from all walks of life who have been struggling with complex psychological difficulties, often for many years.
The extent of the training and experience I have means I can apply knowledge and expertise to helping people who experience a range of psychological difficulties. I work in a flexible and responsive way that is driven by the principles, aims and ethics of my profession.
My work always begins with a robust assessment, I use a combination of methods to obtain a comprehensive understanding (including psychometric testing) of how past and present factors contribute to the development of psychological problems. Often it can be therapeutic in itself to have a psychological assessment, we are better equipped to make changes in our lives if we can understand the “why.” Upon the conclusion of this assessment, I utilise a range of psychological interventions that are well evidenced, clinically proven, in line with national treatment guidelines, and suited to the individual profile and problem. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a key factor in helping people explore and understand themselves better, and help them make the changes they want.
In addition to my clinical career, I have been a guest lecturer on the Oxford Doctoral Course in Clinical Psychology, University of Oxford. I have undertaken British Psychological Society approved Clinical Supervision Training and provide supervision to other Clinical Psychologists and Therapists.
